Compress JPG Online
Use the compressor on the homepage to reduce JPG photo size locally in your browser. JPG compression works best for photos, camera images, and detailed pictures with many colors.
When JPG compression helps
JPG files are common because they store photographs efficiently, but modern phone and camera images can still be several megabytes each. Reducing quality from 100 to around 75-85 often creates a much smaller file while keeping the image clear enough for websites, forms, and email attachments.
Recommended settings
- Use 80 quality for general website images.
- Use 70-75 quality for email and quick sharing.
- Resize very large photos to 1600 or 2000 pixels wide before publishing.
- Convert to WebP when the image is intended for a modern website.
Privacy note
The tool decodes and re-exports images in your browser. This means the original JPG is not sent to a remote compression server, and exported files usually do not include camera metadata such as GPS location or device model.
